Art and culture beckoned Truschka to Spain and Italy

How many opportunities do you get to travel to Spain? How many times have you even been outside of the United States? Jennifer Truschka, a professor at USU Eastern; had the opportunity to travel to Spain during Christmas break.
“It was a great experience, I had never been to Spain,” commented Truschka.
She spent a week in Barcelona, a week in Rome, four days in Sorrento, and four days in Madrid.
She left on Dec. 14, the week of finals.

“It was a great experience, I had never been to Spain,” commented Truschka.
She spent a week in Barcelona, a week in Rome, four days in Sorrento, and four days in Madrid.
She left on Dec. 14, the week of finals.
“The tickets to Spain were cheap, and I hadn’t been there, so I figured I would go,” said Truschka.
“Rome is inspirational, that’s why I went there,” she added.
She decided to go to Spain because of the art and culture. Another reason to go was to dine in Barcelona, because people look at it as a work of art.
She had to make reservations for the restaurant she went to. The appetizer was a pickled-herring custard. “It was disgusting, but very different from anything I have ever eaten. The meal did get better though,” she said. The main meal was pigeon, “it tasted a lot like pheasant.”
The whole meal ended up costing $100. “I liked it because it was very bizarre.”
Truschka said she absolutely loved Spain. After spending a week in Spain, she traveled to Rome.
“Rome is a very inspirational place,” she added. Truschka also said she loved all of the history that it has.
Truschka spent Christmas day in Vatican City, the center of the Catholic church where the Pope gave a blessing.
Some of the other places she visited were: Gaudi Architecture, Picasso and Miro museum in Barcelona.
Once she got to Madrid, she went to Reina Sophia, which is a modern art museum; then visited the Pruto museum, which contains classic Spanish art.
Truschka also visited the Coluseum/Roman forum, and finally in Sorrento where she visited the cities of Pompeii and Herculeanum.
“Traveling is definitely one of my favorite things to do, and I think everyone should try it,” Truschka added.
