Photography opportunities at Carbon Rec

Anyone wanting to learn more about photography is invited to any of the five winter semester classes at Carbon County Recreation held at 30 East 200 South in Price.
On Jan. 17, a group meeting is at 5:30 p.m. and the beginner’s class is at 6 p.m. with instructors Juanita McEvoy & Steve Christensen. This workshop will concentrate on composition techniques and exposure.
On Jan. 24, an infrared photography course will be taught by Heath Petty at 6 p.m. This workshop explores the equipment and techniques for capturing images just outside the visible light spectrum.
Using filters or a modified camera, you can capture photos in the near infra-red spectrum, which makes for some interesting and striking photos.
We will discuss editing techniques and also methods to obtain this effect using photo editing software.

On Jan. 31, a portraits and indoor lighting course will be taught by Norm Smith at 6 p.m. This is a hands-on workshop. According to Smith, be prepared to take photos and/or model for others.
The second session begins Feb. 21 with a group meeting at 5:30 p.m. and beginner’s class at 6 p.m.
On March 20, a photo group meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. and photo management class will be taught by Petty at 6 p.m.
Petty says, “if you have 10,000 digital photos and cannot find anything or what do you do with them? End the frustration — get organized.”
“This is a do-it-yourself group. No one is paid. Classes and activities are free, unless there is a transportation charge,” said Petty.
