Being 6 foot 3 inches and from Puerto Rico makes Lionel Colon Adams not your typical Puerto Rican.
He joined the USU Eastern baseball program in January after playing fall semester with Arizona Western.
Spending his entire life without seeing snow, moving to Price was a huge wake up call for the 18-year- old freshmen pitcher.
He said he came to Eastern because he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to further his education and get better at baseball.
Living on an island close to water his whole life, Lionel’s biggest fear was sharks, but since moving to Price , Utah, with there being no sharks around, Adams new biggest fear has changed to snakes.
Adams is not a huge fan of the food in America, but says he is getting more and more used to it. If he could chose to eat the same meal everyday for the rest of his life, Adams would chose white rice and black beans topped with fried fish.
Lionel is a freshmen at USUE and planning on coming back for his second year. If you see a tall Puerto Rican while walking around on campus, make sure to get to know him. You won’t regret it.
