Maple Canyon: unlimited adventures
If you’re looking for a fun getaway this weekend before it gets to cold outside, Maple Canyon is the adventure for you. The canyon is filled with fun outdoor activities: rock climbing, hiking and camping. Maple Canyon is located off Highway 6, near the town of Moroni. It one hour and 55 minutes away, but the drive is absolutely beautiful, especially in the fall.
They are a handful of hiking trails in Maple Canyon some of them are: Maple Arch, Maple Canyon Loop and Box Canyon. Maple Canyon Arch is 1.6 miles round trip. This trail is perfect for beginners. About a mile in you will reach a fork in the trail. The right fork is the start of the Maple Canyon Loop Trail and the left fork is Maple Canyon Arch Trail. Don’t worry this fork is well marked so you won’t be confused.
Maple Canyon Loop Trail is 2.7-mile-round trip. The trail is good for all skill types so everyone will enjoy this hike. Maple’s Box Canyon Trail is 1.2-miles-round trip, and perfect for everyone. This hike contains a waterfall and narrow canyon walls that are breathtaking to hike through.
Maple Canyon has a unique geology with the Canyon Wall looking like a cobblestone pathway, which makes it perfect for rock climbing. Because of the formation of the canyon there is a climb for everyone, from beginner to advanced. You can find climbing spots anywhere in the canyon.
There are also multiple campsites in Maple Canyon, but because it is a part of a state park, there is a fee to camp. It would be a great way to spend a weekend with your friends. And if everyone in your group chips in, the cost will be doable. Since Maple Canyon is located in a State Park, it’s pack in pack out. You need to leave these beautiful places clean and in better shape than when you arrived to preserve this canyon for future enjoyment.
