Cheer team excited for season games

Coach Kelley Bradley and assistant coach Austin Kennedy welcome 12 members to national championship winning cheer team at USU Eastern. 

Captain Grace Callister is a sophomore from Blackfoot, Idaho. She cheered for Blackfoot High School. Callister chose Eastern because she wanted to be on the cheer team.

Co-captain is sophomore Brooklynn Flamm from Salt Lake City. She came to Eastern to play on the soccer team and cheer. Flamm is excited to “get even closer to the team.” 

Dance captain is Lauren Janes. She is a sophomore from Layton and was on the drill team at Layton High School. She chose Eastern for pre-nursing and cheer.

Dance captain is Haley Baggs, a sophomore from Price. She was a drill team member at Carbon High School. She chose Eastern to complete her associate degree.

Fitness and conditioning captain is Logan Kay. He is a sophomore from San Diego, California. Kay has never cheered before, but is excited to “hopefully get to compete and show off our routines.” He chose Eastern to pursue his major.

Tumbling Captain is freshman Olivia Sorensen from Carrolton, Georgia. She cheered for Stingrays and GymTyme All-Stars before coming to Eastern. She chose Eastern because “it was something different.”

Jade Vea is a freshman from Price. She cheered for CHS and chose Eastern because it is in her hometown. She is excited to “actually be able to cheer.”

Delanie Young is also a freshman from Price who cheered for CHS. Young chose Eastern because it is in her hometown.

Destiny Kutkas is a freshman from Price and cheered for CHS. Kutkas chose Eastern because “it is close to home.” 

T’Ann Passarella is a freshman from Price and was a drill team member at CHS. Passarella chose Eastern because it is in her hometown. She is excited to “actually be able to cheer at events.” 

Lexie Cooper is a freshman from Eagle Mountain. She cheered at Westlake High School, Cedar Valley High School and Ace All-Star before coming to Eastern. She chose Eastern because she “has had friends who went here and said they loved it.” She is most excited to “take more classes directed to my major.”

Naomi Mantz is a freshman from Monticello. Before coming to Eastern, she cheered for Monticello High School. Mantz chose Eastern because of scholarships.

Bradley added, “I am so proud of this team for sticking with it and striving to overcome obstacles that they faced during this pandemic. After more quarantines than they wanted, they are pushing forward and striving to come out champions spring semester. I feel many people in this position would have given up by now, but I’m incredibly proud that they are still with me and plan to see it through.”
