Dead Guilty; a psycho analyst play
The USUE theater group is proud to announce “Dead Guilty”, a play by Richard Harris.
As the new year rolls in this fall, the USUE theater group is proud to announce “Dead Guilty”, a play by Richard Harris. The play is about Julia, a young graphic artist, who is traumatized by a car accident caused by a coworker having a fatal heart attack, leaving Julia injured and housebound. A Mexican orange blossom appears in her terrace and a presence lurks in the room above Julia.
Richard Harris is a British television writer whose works include Sherlock Holmes (1964), Public Eye (1965-1975), and The Sweeny (1970-1979). At 88 years old, Harris accomplished the 1994 Writers’ Guild of Great Britain Award for the show Outside Edge. Harris was active from around 1960 to the mid- to late-1990s, mostly writing thrillers and crime plays and television programs.
The play is a cast of three female and one male, which makes it quite limited to casting. The Utah State University Eastern theater department cast was announced on September 6th, 2022. The show will star Summer Hobbs as Julia, Nellie Heaton and Morgan Innes as Anne Bennett, Ben Larsen as Gary, and Kyra Peterson as Margaret Haddrell.
Closed rehearsals will be held throughout September until the show opens; October 20, 21, 22, 26, 27, and 28th at 7:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite and at the ticket box in the Central Instructional Building. The show will be held in the Blackbox Theatre in the CIB.
A note from Director Corey Ewan States, “In the twenty plus years I have been at USUE, this was the best group of auditions I have seen. Believe me, I can cast the next show from this group, and I will.”
