What is the deal with campus activities?

With such a lack of advertising, it’s difficult to know when and what activities the school is doing or when, and what they’re even going to be.

I’m sure everyone has heard about the Utah state eastern school activities. I’m sure most of you have even been to a few of them. But are they any good?

With such a lack of advertising, it’s difficult to know when and what activities the school is doing or when, and what they’re even going to be. Some of the more recent activities have included, a nerf war, and a below-freezing dance. With such lackluster thought going into these activities, you start to see fewer and fewer students showing up. Who thought a bunch of college students would be excited to have a nerf war in a gym, or go out dancing in 16-degree weather?

Although the activities tend to give out amazing prizes such as a Nintendo Switch, a big speaker, and a few big gift cards. I’m starting to think that’s the only reason anyone shows up. With all the money the school is spending on prizes for the winners, you would like to think they could come up with better activities than reusing stuff that barely works. Or they could hire a real DJ for our dances.

Admittedly, it is amazing the school creates activities and events for the students to do. Some of them are even fun such as the NEXUS party, but it just highlights how horrible the advertising is. Even if students wanted to show up it’s hard to know when or where the activities are. The most advertising I’ve seen for the activities is a few fliers in the BDAC or in the JLCS. Every so often, a few students will post them on their social media stories, but that’s no way for students to learn about the activities.

There are many students who have no reason to go to the BDAC or JLCS regularly, so they have no way to see the fliers and announcements. Many students who do use the BDAC and JLCS rarely stop to look at the overflowing wall with so many fliers. It’s hard to tell which ones are relevant or not. All I’m saying is it would be nice if the school would create an Instagram page to post the activities on, or have some other way of advertising their agendas so students can show up to the rare, fun activities.
