Movie Recap: Invincible

In the movie “Invincible,” the main character’s name is Vince Papale, played by Mark Wahlberg. Vince is a bartender downtown in the streets of Philadelphia who plays muddy football with his buddies in the alleyway. One day, he came home and his wife had packed up and left him without saying anything. Vince lost his mom at a young age and all he has left is his father. His dad works at the factory along with most of Vince’s buddies.

Vince’s story kicks off when he hears about this open tryout for the Philadelphia Eagles, his hometown football team. Vince wasn’t some great football player, he did not even play in college. He was just a regular dude dealing with life’s ups and downs wanting to do something great with his life. Vince had always dreamed of playing for the eagles, but due to his circumstances, he never thought he could. But when the opportunity came knocking, he decided to answer.

One of the things that makes this film really interesting to me is that Vince isn’t just up against other players; he’s facing doubts from everyone around him, including himself. He doubts himself the entire movie, almost to the point of quitting, but he’s got this fire inside to prove that he can make the team.

“Invincible” isn’t just about football. It’s about going after your goals, even when they seem out of reach. This is one of the reasons it is such a “feel good” movie. It is also about determination, because without it, Vince would have quit and proved everyone else right. Vince’s journey isn’t just about making the team; it’s about finding himself along the way. It is about the friendships he forms, the struggles he overcomes, and the lessons he learns about what it means to never give up.

At the end of the film, Vince makes the roster for the year and becomes a very big part of their special teams, mainly kickoff and punt. When he makes the squad he plays very badly in his first game against the Cowboys. The head coach is very upset because he trusted Vince to make plays for him. He took Vince because of his character and determination to be great. At one point in the film the head coach said “You can build a team around that type of character.”

The very next game Vince played out of his mind on kickoff with 4 tackles and to top it all off he forced a fumble late in the game on punt to win the game. Although this is a football movie, what makes it so great isn’t even the football. It’s the trials that Vince overcomes to achieve his dreams

“Invincible” is a Disney movie, so you know there’s gonna be some feel-good moments and maybe a tear or two. But it’s also got that gritty, underdog vibe that hits you right in the feels. It’s the kind of movie that leaves you pumped up and ready to tackle whatever life throws your way. Even if you’re not a die-hard football fan, there’s something here for everyone.

Whether you’re chasing your own dreams or just looking for a little inspiration to get you through the day, “Invincible” will have you crying and fired up ready to run a marathon at the same time.
