Students pack “Welcome Back” activities
Coming back to school can be daunting, but USUSA did a great job making sure USU Eastern student’s first week back was full of fun.
On Aug. 26th, Eric Curwen, director of campus life, sent out an email inviting students to attend these fun activities.
The email stated, “Welcome to campus! We’re excited to have you here as we kick off what’s sure to be an amazing fall semester. To help you settle in, we’ve lined up some fantastic events throughout this week!
The first day of school, on Aug. 26, was kicked off with the Blue Blast Block Party. From 4-7 pm, a favorite event of many USU Eastern students, faculty, and community members, the event was filled with free food, giveaways, events, games, and a chance for students to mingle with members from the community.
On Aug. 27, the annual Luau Party was held at the Price City Wave Pool. Students were greeted at the doors with leis, invited to eat some delicious Hawaiian food, and even were served free snow cones from Canyon Ice. It was a night full of fun, relaxing vibes, and swimming.
Wednesday night students were invited to the Multi-Purpose Room at 6:30 to participate in Music Bingo. Students were entertained with a night full of music, meeting new friends, and winning big prizes.
Thursday night, students headed over to the Eagle’s Nest at 8:00 for a night full of dancing in a pit of foam! The “Hello My Name is…” dance is a great opportunity to meet new friends and dance off all the worries about the upcoming school year. Students were encouraged to wear white or neon to compliment the glow in the dark foam and neon paint that they were about to immersed in!
All in all, USUSA always does a great job in planning such a fun week of events for our students and faculty to enjoy.
When asked, all of the students have nothing, but great things to say about all of the activities. Zoe Wagstaff, sophomore, states, “Music Bingo was definitely my favorite event! Vibing to 2000’s, Disney, Country, and random music with my friends genuinely helped the week feel less stressful. Then of course, I loved the Foam Dance on Thursday. It was a great way to end such a fun week!”
Taya Cowley, freshman, stated, “I had so much fun at the luau! It was so packed, and the snow cones from Canyon Ice were delicious!” I think that everyone will agree that these events were the perfect stress relief for the upcoming school year. They also provided students with a fun opportunity to see what other fun events that will take place around campus throughout the school year.
If you have an idea for an activity, let USUSA know, and you could see it come to life on our campus!
