“Transform, Notate, Accumulate” is the abstract urban art exhibit slated to hit CEU’s Gallery East Feb. 2 – 27, featuring Jean Arnold, John Erickson and Linda Peer, three of Salt Lake City’s popular and distinguished artists.

“Transform, Notate, Accumulate” is the abstract urban art exhibit slated to hit CEU’s Gallery East Feb. 2 – 27, featuring Jean Arnold, John Erickson and Linda Peer, three of Salt Lake City’s popular and distinguished artists.
“This show is hip; very exciting. It’s all about the artists’ perceived sense of motion in urban landscapes, as well as the inner condition,” Gallery Director Brent Haddock stated.
Oil on canvas, monotypes, sculptures, and drawings comprise this exhibit, which captures the speed of motion, abstract dualities, and playful metaphors of human lives and their inner conditions.
“We’re extremely lucky to have artists of this caliber willing to showcase their work here [at CEU]; Jean’s a good friend of mine,” Haddock stated.
Indeed, when one considers that Arnold, Erickson and Peer have been showcased in single-person and multi-artist exhibitions across the country, it is apparent that Haddock has many cordial connections with artists around the world.
With the onset of “Transform, Notate, Accumulate,” now is the perfect time for CEU students and the public to discover the new Gallery East.
In its new home, located in the old Student Activity Center, just east of the library, patrons can enjoy a large inviting space with a vaulted ceiling and north-face lighting.
“The improvements have been vast with the new location.
Unfortunately, we’re ‘off the beaten path,'” Haddock stated.
Art connoisseurs, enthusiasts, and newcomers will enjoy the artists’ Gallery Talk, Friday, Feb. 6, from 3-4:30 p.m. in Gallery East. The artists will discuss their art works, motivation, symbolism and answer questions.
A special opening reception will be Friday, Feb. 6, from 7-9 p.m. in Gallery East. CEU students and the community are invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
Regular gallery hours are 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Anyone needing additional information, regarding “Transform, Notate, Accumulate,” mail requests, or to schedule an after-hours or group showing, may call Brent Haddock, 613-5225.

Coming to CEU’s Gallery East is a one-man show by celebrated artist and Southern Utah University associate professor of art, Brian Hoover. The Hoover exhibit will run March 1-31, 2004.
CEU’s Art Department instructors hope that students and the public will visit Gallery East to experience “Transform, Notate, Accumulate” during February.
