Seven Keys to Baldpate

After spending weeks telling jokes with nobody present to laugh at in the Geary Theatre, the cast of “Seven Keys to Baldpate” open tonight, Feb. 8, and runs through the 10, black Sunday and on the 12-13. The play starts at 7:30 p.m. with student’s admission $2.
Written by George M. Cohan, “The Seven Keys to Baldpate” is a play that is out of the norm for director Cory Ewan who is known more for his melodramatic epics than for being a comedian type of guy, though he is a comedian himself.

“I want to do something that is fun and light with as many people as I can,” Ewan explains. “I’m always being harassed in classes about only putting on a long dramatic play, and asked why not do a comedy.”
Ever since auditions in December 2006 the cast, crew and directors have been working fervently trying to put this show together. “Everyone has worked very hard putting this show together and the scenery has more then exceeded my expectations thanks to the help of the cast and crew,” Ewan added. “The actors have really stepped up and taken their characters upon themselves to make this show that much better. I can not really point out which actors are doing better or, ‘stepping up to the plate’ because I cannot show the audience what they, the actors, were in the beginning and can not show their progression up to this point, opening night.”
Though all actors and directors encounter their own difficulties, Ewan added, the cast and crew have overcome the problems they ran into to really bring this play together. They are really good in this production.
“The Seven Keys to Baldpate” is a creative play that will have you falling out of you seats and rolling in the aisles. It is a definite must see this weekend.
