Skills USA moves onto nationals
The recent Skills USA competition recognized the best students in career and technical areas. College of Eastern Utah sent three departments to Salt Lake Community College to compete against other two and four-year schools in the competition and again brought home numerous awards.
In the automotive technology categories, Kevin Brassaw took first place in the action skills competition, Jordan Nelson placed second in the power equipment category, Myka Potter placed third in the automotive technology category, Anthony Kouris placed sixth in automotive technology and Bruce Jensen placed sixth in job skill demonstration. Tyler Peterson placed seventh in job skill demonstration, Pyper Jones placed ninth in job skill demonstration while Scott Tapia placed 22 second in automotive technology after only one semester in the CEU Auto Program.
In the welding technology competitions, Dan Larsen placed first. In the team welding fabrication competition the team of Josh Critchlow, Dylan Olson and Chad Cloward placed first. All four will compete in national competition in Kansas City this summer.
Finally, in the diesel skills competition, Joe Bennett placed third. He is a first-year diesel student.
