Cooking reunites Eagle staff
It was an Eagle staff reunion of sorts for four people who were brought together last weekend to film episodes of Castle Country Cooking for Emery Telcom Video’s local channel which will air later this fall.
Erin Page, editor of The Eagle, was one of four cooks selected to cook their favorite fall recipes. Page, whose own mother is a chef, selected an Italian meal featuring curry and chicken, for her presentation. “There are so many wonderful cultural foods in this area and I wanted a simple dish that perhaps not everyone had a recipe for,” Page said.

For dessert she made a pumpkin-spice cake to welcome in the cooler, fall weather. Page’s episode of Castle Country Cooking will air on ETV 10 beginning Sept. 14.
Helping to filming the segments was Zak Konakis, a CEU graduate who served as viewpoints editor of The Eagle last year. He continues to write editorials and feature stories for the student newspaper as well as work for the television station.
Organizing and filming the cooking show was Josie Luke, also an alumna of CEU who served as editor in chief when she was a student. Luke works full time for the station setting up, filming and conducting interviews for a variety of shows ETV currently televises on channel 10 of their cable network, and will soon televise on a new service, IPTV.
“After working on the Eagle for two years at CEU, I thought my journalism career was over,” Luke said, “but it is in my blood. I love working for ETV. Filming is an art that I definitely haven’t mastered yet, but I just love doing the interviews. That love goes back to the time I spent covering news for the Eagle.”
Finally Micah Iverson, a CEU graduate and former Eagle sports editor, has spent the past year as Video Production Specialist. He spends his time editing and producing all video content shown on the channel.
“I love what I am doing,” Iverson said. “To actually do something that you studied and practiced in college is very rewarding. Though I am a video editor and producer, you wouldn’t believe how much I use the journalism part of my college degree everyday. Thank goodness I was able to figure out what I wanted to do for my career at CEU, and in part, The Eagle.”
