CEU women open preseason with back-to-back loses
The College of Eastern Utah Eagles women’s basketball team opened their preseason play last weekend at the Southern Utah University Tournament in Cedar City, Utah. CEU faced off against Pima Community College, and Arizona Western College, losing both games.
On Nov. 6, they took on PCC. The Eagles started the game strong and at halftime the score was close with PCC leading 41-37. CEU finished the first half with a 50 percent shooting average.

On Nov. 6, they took on PCC. The Eagles started the game strong and at halftime the score was close with PCC leading 41-37. CEU finished the first half with a 50 percent shooting average.
In the second half, CEU struggled from the field, and finished the second half with a 28 percent shooting average. Pima capitalized on the Eagles’ poor shooting and extended their lead over CEU. PCC won the game 78-67.
The Eagles were led in scoring by Bruna Deichman who scored 25 points. Monique Bruggerman contributed 12 points for CEU.
The next game was against AWC. The Eagles struggled with shooting for the entire game, and held to a 27 percent shooting average in the first half. The Eagles increased their shooting percent in the second half to 31 percent.
But CEU was unable to overcome Arizona Western, and lost the game 67-63. Kaylie Robison lead the team in scoring 26 points,
On Nov. 12, CEU heads to Yuma Ariz, where they will face Yavapai College and AWC. The first regular season game will be against Colorado Northwestern Community College on Nov. 24 at the Bunnell-Dmitrich Athletic Center. Tip off is at 5:30 pm.
