What we are thankful for: a few words from The Eagle staff

Capt. Mae – I am thankful for life.  I can’t express how important it is to me.  I’m thankful for the many friends, past and present, who have helped me with becoming who I am today.  I’m thankful for my family.  They love me and I love them beyond belief.  I’m thankful for nature and the peace which it brings me. I am so thankful for the good God who gave me everything I have. And I am so thankful for Church Group; I love you all.

Kelli Burke-Gabossi – First of all, I am thankful for my family. They have done so much for me and have always been there, especially when I have needed them the most. I am thankful for my friends: Sammie, Bethany, Markie, Laci, Stephanie, Brian, Jenifer and everyone on the newspaper staff. I couldn’t ask for better friends. You guys have just been great. I am thankful for my education. I have worked so hard to get where I am, glad I’ve had the opportunity to get this far and still able to continue my education. Lastly, I am thankful for God for giving me the strength to make it through the best and worst of times, and for giving me the faith to keep on believing.
Jessa Love Adams – Well for one, I’m grateful for my family. My parents are my biggest support group. And my siblings, especially my brothers, make me laugh so much. My friends, especially lately, are important to me. Diana, Brett, Sterling, Tadd, Mae, Val, Daylan, Micheal, Troyal, Henry and Jenna. They are my rock. And I know I have their love and support 100 percent. I’m thankful for the College of Eastern Utah. I’ve had the best time here and made some awesome memories. I’ve learned a lot and grown stronger as a photographer. I’m grateful for my professors on campus. Their patience with me is appreciated. I love my job, my dog, my car, my phone, my camera and my apartment. I’m grateful for my church and everything it has done for me. I’m so grateful for the sun, the moon and the stars. And of course Ugg boots and Nikon D40s.
David Osborne Jr. – As Thanksgiving draws close, I have been pondering what I am thankful for. I am thankful for the typical things that most of us are thankful for; my family, friends, professors and even for the food that will be on my plate Thanksgiving Day. But there are many other things that I am thankful for. What I would really like to express my gratitude for right now is the freedom that I have as a citizen of this great country. Sure, all of us have different views on things, but we have freedoms that are our God-given rights. I think I am more grateful for this now as my dad is away from my family this holiday season participating in defending our freedom. I find myself saying thank you for sports, not only are they my favorite past-time, but without them we would all have to talk about politics or something boring like that. As you celebrate your Thanksgiving Day, remember what Erma Bombeck said, “Thanksgiving dinners take 18 hours to prepare. They are consumed in 12 minutes. Halftime is 12 minutes. This is not a coincidence.” Happy Thanksgiving to you all. May your turkey be moist, mashed potatoes fluffy, naps on a full-stomach long and football games with the family fun.
Carlie Miller – I am thankful for Thanksgiving and the opportunity it gives me to spend time with my family. I am thankful for family and friends and the support they give me. I am thankful for my education and CEU, for I know that there are many around the world who are unable to receive an education. I am also thankful for The Eagle and the chance it gives me to share my love of learning and knowledge with you.
Robert Cottam – I am thankful for everyone that has been there for me including all my friends from school and work, my family as well as my mission family and especially my wife. They are always there for me, never let me give up and always support me in all my doings.
Mallary Skye Cottam – Of all the many wonderful blessings in my life, my religion brings me the most–the most peace, the most hope, the most joy. The knowledge it gives me helps me to acknowledge all I have to be thankful for and allows me to keep these blessings forever. The gratitude I have for my faith does not diminish my thankfulness for other aspects of my life, but amplifies them. I am grateful, of course, for my family, friends and mentors. I am grateful for CEU, and for the opportunity that I have in this beautiful country to attend school, gain an education and make something of myself and enrich my life. I am especially grateful for my husband, for our friendship, the fun we have together, and the love we share. I am grateful for his patience and understanding of me and my faults, and his acknowledgment of my accomplishments and positive qualities. Among many, many other things for me to be thankful for, I am thankful for this time of year and the holiday that makes me stop and realize all the blessings in my life.
Tadd Mecham – This year I would have to say I’m the most thankful for my friends and my family. I don’t think I would have said this in the past. This year both my friends and family have shown me the true extent of their love and acceptance. I’m grateful for every friend that I now hold dear to me who understands and takes me as I am. I’m thankful for that certain someone, who puts up with my crap and always manages to brighten my day. I’m thankful for my parents, who I know do love me and will support me no matter what. And lastly, I’m thankful for Church Group. Happy Thanksgiving!
Valeria Moncada – I am most thankful for my family because they love and support me in everything I choose. I am also for being able to wake up every day and having running water to be able to shower or simply being able to drink fresh water. I’m thankful for being able to have an education and for having the ability to learn something new every day. For having the opportunity to choose what I am going to wear on a daily basis and not having to wear the same thing for more than a couple of days. I am thankful for being able to walk on my own two legs every day, for being able to have a place to call my home. But most importantly I am thankful for my mother who gave me the gift of life, who has been there for me since day one, and because I know she will be there for me for the rest of my life no matter how badly I mess up or how successful I become.
Benoni Sowah – I feel so opportune to be alive. I can boast of coming from a good family. I love my family and I am grateful for them. My life in America has been easy and smooth because of the Griffin, McComber and Baum families. What would life have been like without you guys? You give me a reason to be thankful. I am grateful for the friends I have made here in this country and for the good people who have shared their love with me. I thank you all. I am grateful for my life and most of all I am grateful for you.
Kristen Zarucchi – What am I thankful this year? I would say that I am most thankful for the opportunity to continue my education at CEU.  Some people take their education for granted, but each day I am increasing my gratitude for it.  I have learned so much from the people I have met here.  Since moving here from California for my freshmen year, I have met people who have allowed me to grow as an individual in several ways.  I’m thankful for the friends who have allowed me to be myself and who have been supportive of my decisions.  I am also thankful for my step-brother who supports me and my dreams.  And lastly I am extremely thankful for my boyfriend who loves me and encourages me to keep doing my best and accomplishing goals that I have set for the future.
Cassidy Scovill – I’m thankful for the job my mother got me, because without that I wouldn’t have money to buy all the stupid things I get on a weekly basis. My mother’s account at Food Ranch which lets my buy whatever I want. I’m also very thankful for my parents not kicking me out after I turned 18 and not making me pay rent. Also thankful for: family, friends and being American.
Daylan Jones – I am so blessed for the opportunities and experiences I get to experience not only on a daily basis, but throughout my life. I am thankful for what I have been given and the people I have been blessed enough to call my family and friends. To live in such a country where freedoms are granted and the courts just, in itself is a blessing. When you get to wake up in the morning and decide to seize the day, make it something to be thankful. There is a time when you know you need to be thankful for the mistakes and trials, which you have learned from and shaped you into the person you are. Thankfully I still have time to make a few more mistakes and learn from them. Knowledge of truth in my life is another vital part of me that I am eternally grateful for. I am truly grateful for the little things in life that get you through the day. I hope this Thanksgiving everyone takes the opportunity to look around them and see what they are truly grateful for. See the beauty life has in store for you and when you don’t think its possible to find it, look a little harder and maybe help someone else see the beauty, and see the little things everyday you should be thankful for.
