A nine-net frisbee golf course was installed on the Price campus of USU Eastern on Nov. 1 in an effort to attract students and make the campus seem more alive.
Dreamed up in the enrollment office, the frisbee golf course is credited by Admissions Advisor Kevin Hurst as being a pet project of Director of Enrollment Management Greg Dart.
According to Dart, who has been playing regularly for about ten years, “Disc golf is a very popular attraction on campuses across the country for a number of reasons. It is very low impact on the campus, gets students utilizing the campus in new ways and it is a very low-cost addition to the campus. It was also something we thought would help prospective students see the campus in new and different ways.”
The course was mapped out by the recruitment officers and Sheila Burghardt, USU Eastern facilities director. The nine nets are located between buildings, where tour groups will not have to go too far out of their way.
The project cost $3,100-$3,300. The enrollment and registrar’s offices provided funding.
Score cards with maps of the course should be readily available in the near future as well as discs with the USU Eastern logo on them. In the meantime, the campus community is invited to enjoy the par-27 course.
