USU Eastern womens soccer off to fiery start
The Utah State University Eastern womens soccer team started this season with absolute fire, by earning four wins to start out the season. The team’s teams first two games were in Wyoming. Their next two games were in Nevada for tournament play. The team won its first game of the season 1-0 against the Gillette longhorns in Gillette, Wyo., on Aug. 22.
The Eagle’s very own Atley Thompson found the back of the net during the first half, taking the score to 1-0 and winning the game.
Their next game was against Sheridan College in Sheridan, Wyo., on Aug. 24. Ashley Brindley found the back of the net during the second half to make a score of 1-0 and win the game.
The Eagle’s scored five points during their game on Aug. 29. against Arizona Western College with three of the points being scored in the first half and two of them being scored in the second half. Kinlee McMillan, Tasha Kamachi, Evalyn Ledezma, Morgan Cragun and Brooke Stoker each found the back of the net once to make the score 5-0 for the win.
Their next game was against Alan Hanock College in Henderson, Nev., on Aug. 31. The Eagles scored two goals during this game. The Eagles’ Kinlee McMillan and Morgan Haag each found the back of the net once to make the score 2-0 to ultimately win the game.
The Eagles are 2-0 in conference play and 4-0 overall. They will return to conference play on Friday, Sept. 6, to play one of their rivals, Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the Zion’s Bank Stadium.
