New mural in Price by up and coming artist

There is a new mural being painted in Price that showcases many different historical events in Carbon County.

There is a new mural being painted in Price that showcases many different historical events in Carbon County. The project is being completed by local artist Kate Kilpatrick and is set to be completed by the middle of September.

According to her website, “Kilpatrick was born and raised in a small town 15 minutes North of Salt Lake City.” An art installation is going to do a lot for the city of Price, but having it completed by a local artist will add to the prestige of the work.

“Art has always been a part of my life from drawing army guys and sharks as a small kid, learning to paint with oil paints at the age of ten, to becoming a full-time artist.” Kilpatrick said.

She uses art as an outlet to be creative and hone her talents.

“Creativity has always been a part of my life so much so that if I am not flexing those muscles I become ‘not right’ as some of my closest friends would say.”

After gaining a Bachelor of Arts degree from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Kilpatrick pursued a career in technology driven industries, but quickly returned to her love of art in Carbon County.

“I am most complete in front of an easel with oils nearby and a moment in time I strive to capture.  I continue to evolve my artwork and each day is filled with excitement when I strike brush to canvas,” she says.

The finished mural will be showcasing much of Carbon County history, it shows the immigration to the area, the expansion into the coal mines, and the evolution into what it is now. It will also feature prominent religions in the area. It will also include the mining in Castle Gate, and much more.

To celebrate this new look of Carbon County, they will be doing a grand opening on Saturday September 17th from 5:30-8:00 pm. This event will include free food, live music, a giant slide, and a few guest speakers. This event is for people of all ages.

The guest speakers are going to be Congressman John Curtis, Price city Mayor Michael Kourianos and Kilpatrick herself. Come check out this awesome new art piece and have a good time. The address is 42 South Carbon Avenue.
