Community Open House at USU Eastern

An open house took place on the Utah State University Eastern’s campus in the Jennifer Levitt Student Center’s multipurpose room. The event targeted high school students considering college and aiming to learn more about USU Eastern. This open house focused on showcasing Eastern’s offerings, scholarship opportunities, and the application process for Utah State. Tables were arranged throughout the room, each representing different departments and serving various purposes. The event was tailored for both students and parents to facilitate learning.

One notable attraction was the drone and aviation table, where students had the opportunity to explore Eastern’s program. Drones were flown around the room, allowing students to witness them in action. The library and learning commons, along with several other campus departments, also had informational tables. Outside the multipurpose room, a prize table offered free USUE merchandise, and university ambassadors served Aggie ice cream. Another table assisted students in applying for college and addressing any inquiries they had, while a separate table discussed scholarships and tuition. Attendees gained insights into financial aid, student life, housing, majors, classes, and more. The dining services provided delicious appetizers for the guests. Castle Country Radio covered the event, conducting interviews with ambassadors, students, and staff on campus, exploring their reasons for choosing USU Eastern and their thoughts on the open house.

The open house exceeded expectations. Kevin Hurst, the director of students, mentioned before the event, “We will award scholarships on the spot. We also had experts available — a lot of faculty and staff were present and willing to discuss their programs.”

Utah State hosts open houses throughout Utah, as well as in Idaho and Las Vegas, Nevada. The university actively promotes events for incoming high school students to feel at ease and gain valuable information. Whether through open houses, true blue days, or campus tours, Utah State ensures there’s an opportunity for everyone. On Friday, Nov. 10, student ambassadors at USUE also hosted Senior Preview Day, an event for current high school seniors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The purpose was for seniors to familiarize themselves with the campus and its programs. Ambassadors visited high schools across Utah to announce this event, and it was also promoted during the open house.

Utah State University Eastern offers a plethora of opportunities. The Open House and Senior Preview Day are exemplary events showcasing this institution to incoming freshmen. USUE’s appeal to high school students lies in its low tuition rate, familial atmosphere on campus, and diverse range of programs.
