Preston Jacobson and his Journey to Utah State University Eastern
Preston Jacobson was born in Moscow, Idaho and then eventually moved to Riverton, Utah where he grew up. In his family, he has five total people, his dad Cameron, his mom Jill, his older brother Cayden, and his younger sister Jaycee. Jacobson began his baseball journey at the age of three when he started to play tee ball, and that’s when he fell in love with the sport and then went on to play pitching machine.
He started getting more competitive at the age of eight when he started playing with his travel baseball team locally here in Utah called the Utah Yard Dawgs for about six years. Until he was 14 then he had to play High School Baseball at his highschool Bingham High School. Jacobson was a three year varsity player at his high school and had a very successful three years of playing high school baseball. He and his high school team won a regional title his senior year when they beat Riverton High School. He was also awarded first team academic for his high school as well as preseason all American team.
In between school years Jacobson played summer and fall baseball for Mountain West baseball academy where he and his team had a lot of success. His junior year of high school in the summer he had to get ucl repair surgery on his ucl after tearing it while pitching at a camp at Stanford University. It took him a couple months to heal after the surgery but was eventually healed and he finished his senior year of highschool baseball.
After high school he attended Colorado Northwestern Community College to play college baseball for them. After his season at Colorado Northwestern Community College and the SWAC tournament Preston said that the head coach here at Utah State University Eastern talked to him about coming and playing here in the future and right away he took that offer. He is now a sophomore here at Utah State Eastern and loves it. He is a two way player here he is a pitcher as well as a first baseman. Preston is having a successful season so far with his pitching and his hitting. He is studying business here at the school as well.
Outside of baseball, Jacobson is a big time bowler who goes every Thursday at the local bowling alley in Price. His highest bowling score is 247 and he says that one day he will get a perfect score of 300 in bowling. He likes to have home run derbys at the baseball field during practice and after practice he also enjoys going and hitting golf balls. He also enjoys fishing, hanging out with his family doing many activities, playing video games especially MLB the show. He says that his plans after this year playing baseball at Utah State Eastern is to continue to play college baseball somewhere else he is still undecided on where, and to continue to study business in college to eventually become a business owner of his own.
