Jarrett and Olsen head SUN Center
CEU’s SUN Center started the new year with a new presidency. Jennifer Jarrett and Christine Olsen will share director responsibilities for the service organization. The SUN Center is a state-wide program allowing students to get involved in service for their community and school while meeting and making friends along the way.
Jarrett is from Cache Valley where she attended Sky View High School. Her favorite activities in high school included being a member of student government, the tennis team and Key (Service) Club.

The SUN Center is a state-wide program allowing students to get involved in service for their community and school while meeting and making friends along the way.
Jarrett is from Cache Valley where she attended Sky View High School. Her favorite activities in high school included being a member of student government, the tennis team and Key (Service) Club.
“As long as I can remember I have always wanted to serve and help others in any way I can. When a group of people get together to accomplish a goal, the outcome is amazing. I am excited for this semester to see the projects the students accomplish. We have already planned activities this year and hope students become more involved in service for the community along with CEU,” Jarrett stated.
Olsen is from Price and attended Carbon High School. She was a part of her school’s National Honor Society, United Way program, Renaissance (Service) Club, DECA and FBLA programs. “It is fun to help others and it is rewarding,” Olsen said about service.
At CEU Olsen started in the “Kids at Heart” program which became one of her favorite service activities. “It was one of the most rewarding activities I have done. It was great to work with the kids and see their improvement.” One hope for the year is to give everyone an opportunity to serve and let them experience it for themselves, “I hope we can get more students involved this semester and that they gain a desire to serve others. It is a lot of fun once you get involved, everybody should make a goal of doing at least one service project this semester,” Olsen said.
The next activity the SUN Center has planned is a Road Rally. Students will participate in different service projects in our community. The activity will be January 24, from 9 – 12 a.m. They will meet in the JLSC. Some of the ongoing activities include Kids at Heart, Mentoring, Adopt a Neighbor, Environmental Issues, Women’s Shelter, America Reads, Breakaway Club, Active Re-Entry, Helper Mission, Back Pack Club, Headstart, and the Food Bank. “We try to have a variety of activities so students will have an easy time finding something they want to do and something they will have fun participating in,” Jarrett commented, “we also have a group of student leaders who work with us and help plan activities they are interested in. They are fun, amazing people and have great things planned. This semester will be awesome and I hope everyone participates.”
