“We are excited to be on the forefront of technology with the addition of netLibrary eBooks. This is a new resource that will foster and encourage learning for our students and staff,” said Barbara Steffee, director of the library.
“Since eBooks are accessible anytime of the day or night via the Internet, students unable to use the library when it is open, will be able to access these resources,” Steffee said. netLibrary eBook titles are available to CEU Library users at terminals in the library and from their personal computers via the Internet. Whether you are in your residence hall, off campus or trying to complete a research paper in the middle of the night, you can still use the library’s resources.
Robust search technology allows users to search quickly across all the eBooks in the collection to identify reputable published sources of greatest interest at any point in time.
Users can search across the eBook collection for authors, titles, or keywords, and they can search within books for keywords and phrases.
eBooks are available for varying checkout periods and are automatically checked back into the library collection when the checkout period expires, making the eBook available for another user; no more late fees.
As an added feature, Houghton Mifflin 4th Edition of The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language is embedded into netLibrary eBooks and has been enhanced technologically to include graphics and audio pronunciation.
Faculty, staff, students, and other users can obtain dictionary definitions simply by clicking on a word in an eBook, or by entering a word in the dictionary search window. Some word definitions are accompanied by audio pronunciation files and color illustrations.
The CEU Library eBook collection ranges from core academic areas of science, social sciences and the humanities to collections of specialized study in areas such as business, education, library science, medicine, religion and philosophy, computer science and engineering.
