International poet to read at CEU

Poet and author Gary Gildner will be coming to CEU Wednesday, September 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center Alumni Room, to present a poetry reading, as well as a memoir writing workshop.
Gildner published 20 books including, Like the Heavens: New and Selected Poems, and The Bunker in the Parsley Fields, which received the 1996 Iowa Poetry Prize. Gildner also recieved a National Magazine Award for Fiction, The Robert Frost Fellowship, Pushcart prizes in fiction and nonfiction, the William Carlos Williams and Theodore Roethke poetry prizes, and the two National Endowment of the Arts Fellowships.
Gildner has been writer-in-residence at Reed College, Davidson College, Seattle University and Michigan State University and been a Senior Fulbright Lecturer to Poland and Czechoslovakia.
He has given readings of his work at the Library of Congress, the Academy of American Poetry and 300 colleges and schools in the United States and abroad.
The reading is free and the public is welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served after the reading with the availability of the author to meet those in attendance.
Gildner will also be leading a memoir writing workshop Thursday, September 8 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center Board Room. The workshop is free and the public is welcome to attend. Space for the workshop is limited, so reservations are required.
