On Feb. 10, the SUN Center is holding their annual volunteer fair where students and people in the community can find a community program that they would like to be a part of, along with a free hot potato lunch.

College of Eastern Utah’s SUN Center has many plans this semester, and it’s all starting in February. On Feb. 10, the SUN Center is holding their annual volunteer fair where students and people in the community can find a community program that they would like to be a part of, along with a free hot potato lunch.
The fair runs from 10 a.m.- noon in the multi purpose room of the JLSC. This is a great opportunity for college students to get involved in the community. “College students have something special people love them, they are full of hope and something special,” states Kathy Murray, director of the SUN Center.
The SUN Center continues with great programs this year for the campus and community. They are very involved in the Active Re-Entry program, which is a community-based independent living program, assisting people with disabilities to maintain or achieve self-sufficiency.
Another great program involves the Newborns in Need project. This is a program, providing newborns with blankets and other supplies. All the materials for blankets are provided by the SUN Center. Anyone in the community who would like to help needs to go to the SUN Center office and pick up what materials they need to make their blanket and return it when the blanket is complete.
One of the main programs for the SUN Center is the Early Head Start program, designed as an independent, community based program for low-income families with infants and toddlers to provide a healthy development for the young children of our community.
Along with this, the SUN center will be involved in some great fund raisers. On Jan 31 they will be in Helper at a carnival raising money for a young boy with leukemia. They are aspiring to organize a fundraiser to obtain sleepwear for young patients at Primary Children’s Hospital.
The possibilities don’t end there. The SUN Center is involved in many great projects, and are always open to community involvement.
