“Everyday is the best day ever!”
That is Jana Glover’s famous quote that she tries to live by each and every day.
Glover is a freshman on this year’s basketball team and plays guard or forward position.
Glover didn’t plan on continuing her basketball career into college, until she was invited to the All-Star game and decided she wasn’t ready to give it up.
She owes a lot of being in Price to her dad and older sister; in fact, if it weren’t for them, she “probably wouldn’t be here.”
Her sister used to coach for Snow College and talked to coaches Dave Paur and Dan Allen about recruiting her, letting them know she had possibly changed her mind since the last time they had tried to recruit her.
“When I decided to keep playing, it was between here and Dixie. My dad didn’t think that Dixie was a good place for me. The team there wasn’t very nice and neither were the coaches. The only reason I wanted to go there was that it is closer to home.”
Glover grew up in Orderville, Utah, down Kanab and Zion National Park. In her words, “A small little Mormon town.”
When she came to CEU to try-out with the team, she found how great the coaches were and how nice the team was.
“Veva (Whitear) was so nice to me when I came. She made me feel welcome and she was just so great.”
People couldn’t believe that she was coming to Price, and they used to give her a hard time about it. So before she came up for school, she made herself a promise.
“From the first day I drove up here, I promised myself that I would have a good attitude about it and look for all of the positive things in Price. It was really pretty when I drove in, I saw a beautiful sunset, so it made a good first impression.”
She’s planning on staying at CEU next year and would like to continue to play basketball as long as she can. “It’s a good way to get school paid for,” she says.
“I want the team to do better next year. We have good chemistry, but I would like to have a winning season.”
“I have learned a lot from this year. Things happen for a reason. Veva is always so optimistic about life and basketball. She and Marcy (Loveless) are great sophomores and leaders. We have some really good players on our team, but it just didn’t happen this year.
“I think that we learned more about life and about basketball however.”
