Married in college: the stress

When you are married and something crappy happens, it is both better and worse than it was when you were single. How can that be, you ask? Well, it’s better because you know you have someone to help share the burden, someone who has to listen to you vent, and someone who can rub your feet when you’re finally done ranting. But it’s also worse because once you finish your rant your spouse feels awful too and then you feel guilty.

It’s not like with your friends who can listen to your crap and then carry on with their own awesome day; when you’re married your day depends on his day. And what if you are both having a bad day? Who rubs whose feet? It’s a serious dilemma.
Say you are trying to find a new place to live; you’re having health problems; his Grandpa is having health problems; school is eating you both alive; and despite the fact that you both work full time, there just isn’t enough money. Now tell me, who rubs whose feet?
As far as my marriage goes, I’ve also heard that a couples massage is a pretty stellar way to renew a Zen mind set, and believe me, that’s totally on my to-do (someday when we make real money) list. Until then, Henry usually rubs my feet then I tickle his back while we watch a movie and ignore the fact that we really should be doing the dishes. It seems to work pretty well for now.
