Business Club qualifies for national competition

Earning first place in one event, second place in four others qualified students from USU Eastern business club to attend a national PBL (Phi Beta Lambda) competition.
On March 29-30 the USU Eastern business club competed in a statewide competition of colleges, UVU, USU, SUU, SLCC, Stevens Henagers, BYU, U of U and others, that tested the contestants ability in various business forums. The competition consisted of 100 multiple choice question test on the selected subject, some subjects required a presentation.

Earning first place in one event, second place in four others qualified students from USU Eastern business club to attend a national PBL (Phi Beta Lambda) competition.
On March 29-30 the USU Eastern business club competed in a statewide competition of colleges, UVU, USU, SUU, SLCC, Stevens Henagers, BYU, U of U and others, that tested the contestants ability in various business forums. The competition consisted of 100 multiple choice question test on the selected subject, some subjects required a presentation.
“There were about 150 schools there competing,” says Danielle Warner, member of the business club. “We did amazing, we had four people qualify to go to nationals in three events.”
The events and people that qualified included: business decision making (team event) USU Eastern earned first place, Danielle Warner and Brandon Warner; accounting, second place, Elcio Dutra; management, analysis & decision making (team event) second place, Patrick Strey and Danielle Warner; accounting analysis & decision making, second place, Elcio Dutra and Danielle Warner; management concepts, second place, Danielle Warner. To qualify to go to nationals, students have to place first or second in an event.
Elcio Dutra said, “Thanks to my good professors I did well. I’m excited to go to Texas for the national conference.”
“For 35 years straight we’ve consecutively placed in accounting,” states Warner. “This is the fourth year in a row that someone has qualified to go to nationals… I’m really proud of that.”
This year nationals will be held on June 24-27 in San Antonio, Texas.
