Halloween: horror or horrible
3 installments of the Halloween franchise including Halloween (2018), Halloween kills (2021), and Halloween Ends (2022).
David Gordon Green has made 3 installments of the Halloween franchise including Halloween (2018), Halloween kills (2021), and Halloween Ends (2022).
2018 was a hit for fans of the Halloween franchise gaining a 79% rotten tomato score. This installment takes place 40 years after the events of Halloween (1978). This movie is excellent, many fans of the franchise would agree.
However the next installment, Halloween Kills, stirred up controversy among fans. Fans either loved it or despised it. I really enjoyed it. I think it was one of my favorites of the franchise, while some people would argue it was one of the worst.
This film ended up with a 39% rotten tomatoes score. A lot of the complaints I have heard regarding this movie are based on a sequence of things involving mob mentality. A lot of people think that the actions of the mob don’t make sense, I believe it would have.
This mob mentality has killed before many times. There were some things I can understand, they made it seem as though Michael Myersand Laurie Strode aren’t connected in any way. This is upsetting, but it doesn’t change much about the story.
Some of the other complaints are about Laurie, in Halloween Kills she spends a lot of the movie in a hospital following the events of Halloween (2018).
This did not bug me, because they brought in some newer and old characters who filled that time. Had they kept the movie the same way they have been for the past 42 years, it would have just been the same movie as Halloween (2018). Halloween is my favorite horror franchise, I love it. It does tend to be the same story every single movie.
They have changed things and done things differently in the past, why is everyone so focused on what they changed instead of how cool those changes were. Halloween Kills has some of the best action scenes in all of the Halloween franchise. Since watching Halloween Kills I have been super excited for what’s to come.
Halloween ends is supposedly going to be the last film in the Halloween franchise. I haven’t watched it yet but I have high hopes for this latest addition to the series. I think David Gordon Green has done a fantastic job. He has made really enjoyable horror films. He did things I never would’ve expected from the movies. I hope he creates a glorious ending to this movie series.
