Library corner

As we enter into the holiday season, the CEU Library would like invite all students, faculty and staff to visit the library and check out materials that celebrate this festive time of year. The library has several holiday movies on DVD and in video. We also have a great collection of festive music on CD as well as holiday themed audio books.

As we enter into the holiday season, the CEU Library would like invite all students, faculty and staff to visit the library and check out materials that celebrate this festive time of year. The library has several holiday movies on DVD and in video. We also have a great collection of festive music on CD as well as holiday themed audio books.
The library also has several books with holiday stories for checkout. Listed below are some examples of our holiday titles in various formats both audio/visual, written and electronic. If you don’t see something you’d like please drop in and we may be able to interlibrary loan it for you. DVD and/or video: The Santa Clause 3 (this is a new release), The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, Christmas Cartoon Classics vol. I & II, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Home Alone, A Christmas Story, A White Christmas, and many others for you and your family to enjoy.
As a special treat, our holiday music is on display as you enter the library. On the display table you will find several holiday music CDs. Some titles include: Mannheim Steamroller, Christmas Collection, Mormon Tabernacle’s Silent Night, James Taylor at Christmas, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Christmas Hymns, Candlelight Christmas and others in all music styles. Please drop in and visit the table to pick out some holiday music to celebrate the season with this year.
Listening to a holiday audio book while you travel between shopping stores or visits to family can be fun. We have both humorous and dramatic stories on audio in both cassette and CD. Some holiday themed audio books available at the library are: Holidays On Ice by David Sedaris, Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations,  A Christmas Story by Jean Shepherd and Skipping Christmas by John Grisham.
If you are looking for a great holiday story to read yourself or share with the family we have books as well! Some holiday titles are: Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins by Eric Kimmel, The Trees of the Dancing Goats by Patricia Polacco, Christmas Stories by Charles Dickens, Cowboy Santa by Judy Christenberry, Baboushka and the Three Kings Illustrated by Nicolas Sidjakov and adapted from a Russian folk tale, Christmas in France by Corinne Madden Ross, St. Nicholas: His Legend and His Role in the Christmas Celebration and Other Popular Customs by George H. McKnight, A Trilogy of Christmas Plays for Children, and Circle of Wonder: A Native American Christmas Story by N. Scott Momaday.
The library has holiday themed books accessible via electronic means through NetLibrary and ebrary Electronic books available from links off the CEU Library homepage. Some holiday titles found in the electronic books listing include: Christmas in America: a History by Penne L. Restead, Nutcracker Nation: How an Old World Ballet Became a New World Tradition by Jennifer Fisher, and The Gift of the Magi by O Henry.
We invite all students, faculty and staff to visit the CEU Library and take advantage of all the holiday and non-holiday resources available at your finger tips either in hardcopy or via electronic means here at the library.
